Local Prize winner from our 2018 BSSA Award, Chloe Turner, was presented with her prize of book vouchers donated by Mr B’s Emporium of Books at the bookshop last week. It’s the second year in a row that Chloe, who lives near Stroud, in Gloucestershire has won the prize. This year it was for her wonderful story ‘Witches Sail in Eggshells’. Here she is with Ed, from the bookshop having received her voucher, our card and a celebratory bottle.
The anthology of twenty winning and shortlisted stories from BSSA 2018 will be published next month so you’ll be able to buy the book and read it then. Mr B’s will have some at the shop and the others will be for sale online. More details about that soon. Chloe has had further success with short stories this year. One of them, ‘Waiting for the Runners’, originally published as a slim chapbook by TSS, is is contained in the anthology, Best British Stories, 2018 edited by Nicholas Royle. You can see a copy of this anthology, where we placed it on the shelves behind Chloe. Another book worth buying when you are next at Mr B’s.
Chloe decided to use her voucher there and then after the presentation and bought the lovely pile of books pictured here. We wish her all the best for further story success and are sure we will be reading more of her work soon, whether her short stories or the historical novel she is currently working on, which she told us about and which sounds fascinating.
